COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Georgia Marshal Training Network and the Georgia Chapter of Noble came together this week in a joint training effort and wrapped up the two day event with a dinner.
The dinner was an opportunity to talk more on ways to help young people going through the juvenile justice system.
Avery Niles was the guest speaker for the conference tonight, October 9. Niles says he hopes the community will embrace children and young adults returning to everyday life from detention centers and jails.
"We're here to provide opportunities for the embracing of these law enforcement officers to help the department of juvenile justice in a positive way," says Niles.
News Leader Nine's Roslyn Giles was presented with the 2014 Georgia Marshall Training Network Outstanding Media Award tonight and five students were also awarded scholarships from the two organizations.
