Auburn man arrested, charged with assault

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - The Auburn Police Division has arrested 21-year-old Blake Ryan Alexander from Auburn on a felony warrant charging him with assault first degree. 

On Tuesday, Oct. 21 at approximately 2:11 a.m., police responded to a "shots fired" call at an apartment complex located in the 600 block of Shug Jordan Parkway. Responding officers located a 21-year-old male victim from Auburn suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.  

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and airlifted to Columbus Midtown Medical Center.

Auburn Police initiated an investigation into the incident that resulted in Alexander being identified as the person responsible for the shooting. The victim, who is an acquaintance of Alexander, was shot after a verbal altercation between the two of them escalated.  

Detectives obtained an arrest warrants on Alexander charging him with assault first degree and he was taken into custody while still at the scene. The victim remains in stable condition at Columbus Midtown Medical Center.

Alexander was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility where his bond was set at $50,000.
