COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The president of the Urban League of Greater Columbus has announced she is stepping down less than a year as head of the organization.
President and CEO Brooke Burgess has officially resigned from her post, citing family matters. She'll remain with the organization until Dec. 23. The 40-year-old Virginia native was named last December, her selection breaking the decades-long tradition of black men leading the local organization.
The board of directors will soon begin its search process to fill the position.
