UGA's Gurley out for season with torn ACL

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

University of Georgia star tailback Todd Gurley's return was short-lived after suffering a torn ACL.

A spokesperson for UGA said Gurley underwent an MRI Sunday on the junior and confirmed the injury.

Gurley had just returned to the field against Auburn on Saturday after a four-game suspension for taking more than $3,000 for autographs. The tailback left the game in the fourth quarter after he hurt his left knee. UGA went on to win the game 34-7.

"He's practiced hard, played hard, loves the big games and has played his heart out for Georgia," said Coach Mark Richt of Gurley.

After the injury, Gurley tweeted, "No Pain, No Gain...."

UGA Director of Sports Medicine Ron Courson said a surgery date had not yet been determined.

Last year, Gurley was sidelined after an ankle injury.
