AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Want to own a unique piece of Auburn University memorabilia?
Auburn University's Southeastern Raptor Center began the first of several online auctions for items used during game-day eagle flights earlier this week.
The items are handcrafted by volunteers and include custom jesses, cuffs worn around the eagle's ankles and straps, and the lure used to entice the eagle to land midfield.
Money raised by the auction will benefit the Southeastern Raptor Center with its mission of education, rehabilitation, and conservation for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Janet McCoy of Auburn's College of Veterinary Medicine said in an interview with
that the center plans to auction items from all of this season's home games. The starting bid for non-SEC game lures will be $200 while Southeastern Conference games will start at $500.
