COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police were dispatched to an attempted robbery on the 3000 block of Plateau Drive at 11:48 p.m. on Saturday, according to authorities.

A 26-year-old male victim told police it all started when he parked and got out of his car in his driveway.

The victim also told officers a gold Chevy Blazer pulled into his driveway and the driver pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money.

The victim refused and the driver demanded the keys to the victim's car, according to the report.

Once the victim refused to do so, the suspect drove away. Police say the victim then followed the gold vehicle, and the victim called police for help once he lost sight of the suspects near the Big Cat gas station on North Lumpkin Road.

The victim told police the driver was a black male, tall and skinny build with long dreadlocks wearing a brown sweater.

Authorities say another suspect was sitting on the passenger seat armed with a rifle, but the victim couldn't offer descriptions for him.

Police told News Leader 9 one of the suspects was arrested for criminal attempt armed robbery on Sunday morning.

Officials say a 24-year-old suspect from the incident was put in the county jail for the incident.

No one was injured, and anyone with information is asked to call Columbus Police at 706-653-3400.
