FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Most Thanksgiving dinners are still two days away, but not for some of the men and women serving our country.
Members of the Third Armor Brigade Combat at Fort Benning held its Sledgehammer Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Soldiers and their families gathered in the Gibson Dining Facility for a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
Organizers say it's all in an effort to provide a thanksgiving meal to soldiers and their families.
"We spent about two months on everything that you see here of long hours of practicing and pretty much seeing what you see today from hard work," Staff Sergeant Sasha Fambrough said.
What's significant about the soldiers' feast is that they trade places with their superior. Leaders from each battalion served soldiers and their families.
