Columbus families received free coats, food for Thanksgiving

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Dozens of people in our area got coats, hams and turkeys for free on Tuesday. It was all part of the "My Father's House International Outreach Ministries" Thanksgiving Giveaway in Columbus.

It brought big smiles to around 50 local families in need. It was open to anyone in the community who wished to participate.

"It was a blessing. We have people tell us that did not know how or what they were going to able to cook for their families and some are on hard luck. It was a blessing from God right on time," Bishop Kevin Legette said.

This event was originally scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 23, but due to severe weather that day, turnout was low and left the organization with plenty of coats, hams and turkeys to give away.
