WWE visits Ft. Benning, pays tribute to the troops

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) - "Tribute to the Troops," a concert and professional wrestling event, is hosted by Columbus and Fort Benning.

WWE superstars and country singers Florida Georgia Line took the stage at the Columbus Civic Center. A free concert for the soldiers at Fort Benning and the annual Tribute to the Troops had the Civic Center filled to capacity.

It's part of a two-day event where well known professional wrestlers visit Fort Benning and perform in a live Smackdown event that will be featured in a nationally televised Christmas special.

Some huge names in wrestling and WWE hall-of-famers were right in our backyard. John Cena was on post Tuesday morning, taking pictures with soldiers and having a look at the inside of a tank.

We were backstage with country singers Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard who say they're honored to be performing for the soldiers.

The events don't end with the concert.  On Wednesday, some of the WWE divas and superstars will be attending good causes throughout the valley: an anti-bullying rally at a middle school, a reading celebration, and a Christmas tree event at Wetherby Field.
