COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The cause of a fire that destroyed Columbus' historic Mott House in September is still unknown.

Fire Marshal Ricky Shores says little remains of the interior portions of the structure that would help investigators pinpoint the source.

The city Board of Historic and Architectural Review has approved a proposal to demolish the building.
