(WTVM) - Phenix City police need your help nabbing a thief.
It's a scene that's become all too familiar – someone breaks into the homes of people while they are out, leaving the victims with a feeling of personal violation and fear.
Darrell Lamont Owens, 32, is being sought by Phenix City Police for three-counts of burglary in the 3rd degree.
Phenix City Assistant Police Chief Robert Casteel breaks down the crime for us.
"First degree is if you're armed with a weapon and enters a residence that is occupied and second would be a building, a commercial building, third degree is a residence, no weapons involved."
According to Casteel, Owens stands five feet one inch tall and weighs 130 pounds. He has a slender build with a boyish face.
His last known address was off of Rutherford Road in Hurtsboro, Ala.
By the look of his of his rap sheet, Owens has been arrested for small time crimes but police would advise you not to approach him if you spot him.
"Certainly he can be dangerous if he's caught in the house, if someone walks in and he's inside their house, he will be dangerous because he's going to do whatever he has to in order to get away."
