PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - An appreciation luncheon and check presentation to MDA was held Monday in Phenix City.
Phenix City Fire and rescue participated in the 2014 Fill the Boot campaign to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
They raised $27,342.53 this year by taking donations in front of local stores.
Phenix City Fire Chief Christine Kennedy said that with any campaign the firefighters do the best job they can. She also says they could not complete the job without citizen participation.
"The citizens have contained to be receptive to this project. Throughout the recession they continue to give and we could not be any happier to apart of this community," Phenix City Fire Chief Christine Kennedy said.
The check presentation was held at Fire Station #1 on Crawford Road.
The Phenix City Fire & Rescue has been participating in the Fill the Boot Campaign since 2005.
