Law enforcement spreads holiday cheer at Midtown Medical Center's pediatric unit

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The kids in the pediatrics unit of Midtown Medical Center had a blue Christmas Friday morning.

Our men and women in blue paid a visit to the kids and they came bearing gifts.

Police officers were joined by the sheriff's deputies, state troopers and CSU campus police, all with one goal in mind – to bring a little happiness to those oh-so-young patients.

"You see a child smile and you know that they've probably been, anybody that's been in the hospital known there's a lot of machinery and a lot of needles, just a lot of things that aren't pleasant. And to see them smile when an officer hands these toys out like this aardvark. To see a child get that, and then them [to] smile, it really means a lot," GA Department of Public Safety Sgt. Michael Dodd said.

Just like Santa, they have other stops to make. The group left Midtown to head over to St. Francis Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.
