Volunteers hand out presents to Russell County children

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - People at the Russell County Courthouse are spreading some holiday cheer.

Some volunteers lent a helping hand in distributing toys and gifts to children on Friday, Dec. 19. One volunteer says they gave out tickets for kids to come pick their very own bike this year.

"We hope every year to have as many bikes as we have children to come," said Mrs. Claus, one of the volunteers. "We don't always succeed. But what we do is we make up tickets and after everyone has had something to eat we pull the tickets and they come out and pick out a bike."

Russell County Commissioner Ronnie Reed was also on hand for the event. There was food, games, and giveaways for children in the community.
