This week is the height of the holiday season, and what better gift to receive than a job?
It looks like our area of west Georgia is more and more able to deliver that present.
Governor Deal announced that Hyundai Glovis, a customer-service based company that assists automotive companies like Kia, will be bringing almost 200 jobs to Harris County. The company is going to build a state-of-the-art facility in the Northwest Harris Business Park.
It's more tangible evidence, large and small, that our area continues to attract businesses and businesses create jobs.
That job news comes just as the state announced the most significant monthly drop in the unemployment rate since 1976.
Georgia's unemployment rate is now 7.2 percent, still much higher than the national rate of 5.8 percent, but at least we are headed in the right direction.
Still more good news for the holidays: Columbus first time jobless claims in November totaled under 750, down 343 claims from the same month a year ago.
So if you're looking for a job, keep looking. There are opportunities out there. Never be discouraged.
We hope you are blessed with whatever you are looking for, in every way, this holiday season. ________________________________________
