TOCCOA, GA (WTVM) – Georgia Army National Guard officials say that a group of troops are scheduled to return from Afghanistan just in time for Christmas.

Maj. Will Cox said in a statement that a welcome home ceremony is set for tonight at Stephens County High School for members of the Guard that are based in Toccoa and Ft. Benning.

The unit helped conduct demolition, repair, and construction operations for facilities in their designated areas. Cox says this Christmas will mark the first time in 13 years that no unit from the Georgia Army National Guard will be deployed.

The ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight.
