Rash of armed robberies cleared after 4 arrest

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police arrested four suspects involved in a rash of armed robberies across the Valley.

The robberies occurred mainly at gas stations and the suspects even robbed customers inside some of the businesses.

Below is a list of charges for 29-year- old Aquarius Nelson, 24- year- old Gene Bryer, 20- year- old Montavious Steplight and 20- year-old Ebonee Huff.

Nelson's charges include:

  • 16 counts of armed robbery
  • 2 counts of criminal attempted armed robbery
  • 5 counts false imprisonment
  • 12 counts of aggravated assault
  • 7 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
  • 8 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of marijuana

Bryer's charges include:

  • 9 counts of armed robbery
  • 2 counts of criminal attempted armed robbery
  • 5 counts of false imprisonment
  • 4 counts of possession of a firearm by convicted felon
  • 5 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
  • 8 counts of aggravated assault
  • Possession of misdemeanor marijuana
  • Theft by taking a motor vehicle

Steplight charges include:

  • 5 counts of armed robbery
  • 2 counts of criminal attempted armed robbery
  • 3 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
  • 3 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Theft by taking a motor vehicle

Huff's charges include:

  • 7 counts of armed robbery

Major Gil Slouchik says all of the suspects were armed but were arrested without incident. He also expects more charges and arrests against these suspects.

These arrests cleared armed robberies from nine businesses between Nov. 15, 2014 to Dec. 22, 2014 at these locations:

  • Cascade Hills Package store
  • Holly Hills Beverage Shop on St. Mary's Rd.
  • Papa's Package Store on Milgen Rd.
  • Cedar Hills Package on Old Cusseta Rd.
  • Ellex's Store on Warm Springs Rd.
  • Little Package Store
  • Internet Café on South Lumpkin Rd.
  • Petro Market (robbed with 3 people inside)
  • Eric Shorter was robbed on Southside Court
  • Marathon Gas Station on Warm Springs Rd.
