PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Phenix City council will vote Tuesday on recommendations from the city's charter review committee.
One of the hottest topic discussed during the recommendation meeting were term limits for elected officials. Now officials can run for consecutive terms for the same office.
The charter is recommending limiting consecutive terms by requiring a one-year break.
"It means they can operate two years in a position and sit out one or run for a different one, win or lose," explained JW Brannen, member of the Phenix City Charter Review.
If the council votes in favor of the charter's recommendations, then they will be drafted into legislation to be voted on again before it becomes law.
