'When I Grow Up' forum helps young girls in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Girls of all ages had the opportunity to take steps toward achieving their dreams at the "When I Grow Up" forum held Thursday night.

Held at the Gallery at Fountain Park, the monthly girl-only forum strives to help young ladies across the Valley set goals for the future and be empowered to go after them.

Thursday's event had a special twist.

"Tonight I'm having a Vision Board Party for the young girls. All school aged young girls were invited and basically we're just going to help the young girls map out their vision their dreams. You know things they dream of, goals that they aspire to reach. We're going to teach them how to put it on paper and how to realistically set those goals," founder Kristen King said.

This was the second vision board event conducted by the "When I Grow Up" organization.
