WTVM Editorials 1/9/15: 'No go' zones

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – What do France, Germany, Holland, Brussels and Sweden have in common?

Those European countries all have "no go" zones where local police have decided to relinquish control to their Muslim inhabitants.

France, the site of the massacre of journalists at a satirical magazine, has the most "no go" zones, 750 of them, where police refuse to tread, dreading riots and allowing Sharia law to be the law of the land, so as not to offend Muslims.

It's a truly alarming situation that all Americans need to be aware of and guard against it ever happening here.

Immigrants made America strong starting in the early 1990's because they quickly assimilated into our culture: working hard, playing by the rules, obeying the laws and enjoying the freedoms that make America the best country in the world.

But in Europe, governments have looked the other way while Muslims resist assimilation, instead creating segregated neighborhoods which becomes "no go" zones and where extremism can take over.

It may be too late for France to regain control of their country, now home to the largest Muslim immigrant population in the world.

But, it's not too late for the rest of the world to learn the lesson that "no go" zones have no place in a civilized, lawful society.
