A breakdown of the December Jobs report

The U.S. economy looks better than it has in more than a decade.

Last year was the best year for job growth since 1999.

According to the latest job report, 252,000 jobs were added to the economy in December.

The total number of jobs added in 2014 comes close to three million.

The unemployment rate also fell from 5.8 percent to 5.6 percent.

On the negative side from the job reports, hourly wages fell in December.

Political science professor, John Tures, compares today's numbers to the recent recession.

"The unemployment rate is coming down. During the great recession it actually was getting close to 15 percent which was higher than the national average. Today it's 7.1 % or at least of the December 2014 numbers," Tures said.

Clifford Meeks with the Department of Labor in LaGrange says his offices provides multiple resources to get you prepared for a new job.

"You know nowadays a lot of companies have you going on line to even submit a resume or to do an application. So a lot of people may not have internet access at home so they can come right here," Meeks said.

Meeks says they also help our nation's veterans find quality jobs.
