Lanett mother arrested, charged with child abuse

LANETT, AL (WTVM) - A Lanett mother has been arrested for allegedly abusing her child. 

Amber Ivey, 27, of Lanett was arrested Thursday, Jan. 15 following an investigation of an 18-month-old reported to have sustained injuries following a fall. 

Doctors who examined the child informed police the toddler had numerous fractures.  Medical experts say some of those fractures had already healed, and some of broken bones were new and had not healed. 

Through the investigation, the mother of the child was arrested for the injuries to the child. Ivey was transported to Chambers County Detention facility. Police say they do not know at this time if Ivey has made bond.  

The child and siblings have been placed in protective custody, and the toddler is expected to recover from the injuries.
