(WTVM) - The annual Muscogee County School District Spelling Bee will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. in the Patrick Theatre at the Columbus Museum on 1251 Wynnton Road.
The contest is sponsored by MCSD and the Muscogee Association of Educators. Parents, teachers, friends and family supporters are invited to the event.
Students who win the elementary and middle school level spelling bee competition are eligible to participate in the district-wide spelling bee competition. Forty-four contestants are expected to compete.
The top three winners compete in the District Six contest in Fort Valley, Ga. at Fort Valley State University in the Pettigrew Center Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 28. The contest begins at 10 a.m.
The District Six winner will compete in the state contest in Atlanta, Ga., at Georgia State University in the Student Center on Friday, March 20, 2015. The contest begins at 11 a.m.
Each state winner is eligible to compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May 2015.
