Auburn gas station reopens 10 years after murder

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - An Auburn gas station reopened Monday nearly 10 years after the owner was shot and killed inside the store.

The Saco station on the corner of Dean and Opelika roads had been vacant since July 2005 after previous owner Dick Salmon was gunned down in the store lobby.

Salmon's widow was on the phone when the murder happened. Authorities say the killer murdered Salmon and took an unknown amount of cash.

Auburn police say the case is not closed.

The store also received a facelift last year.
