COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - 26-year-old Jerry Lee Ray Jr. of Lee County was arrested Tuesday, and charged with multiple class A felonies for producing, possessing and disseminating child pornography.

Investigators say Ray's victim was a five year old child.

"When you are investigating issues with a victim that due to the age or circumstances is not able to fend for themselves, that is particularly concerning to the law enforcement community as it should be to everyone and we will do everything we can to protect those victims," Jay Jones stated, Lee County Sheriff.

On Tuesday, the local SWAT Team executed a search warrant at Ray's home near Highway 169, Southeast of Opelika. Inside, detectives located evidence of the abuse.

"We received information from a family member that indicated there may be some sort of criminal activity involving production of obscene materials involving a youngster at the age of five. We have uncovered evidence as a result of the search we believe will support the arrest," Jones explained.

Sheriff Jones believes the abuse began in December, when Ray began a relationship with a relative of the child. On Feb. 1 allegations were reported to the Lee County Sheriff's office.

Sheriff Jones says at this point there is one victim, but says there could be others.

If your family has had any contact with Ray, Sheriff Jones encourages you to speak with your children.

"Anyone who may have had any contact with this individual, particularly if they have young children they need to be aware of that and if they have any information that may assist us with this investigation to please get in touch with the Lee County Sheriff's Office," Jones said.

Ray was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on a $115,000 bond.
