(WTVM) – Alabama ranks near the bottom of the list for happiest and healthiest state in a new study released by the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.
The state of Alabama ranked number 45 on the list - which is based on the following elements of well-being: community, financial, physical, purpose, and social.
Alaska, Hawaii, and South Dakota are the top three happiest and healthiest states; Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia rank at the bottom of the list. Georgia ranked number 30 on the list.
The survey found that well-being is on the rise across the nation. More than 80 percent of people say that they were satisfied with their standard of living, and 60 percent say their standard of living is improving.
