COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Several children in the Chattahoochee Valley area have been very busy trying to help the homeless and families in need.
On Thursday evening, middle school students representing Jack and Jill of America, Inc. worked on their monthly community project.
They organized and assorted donated food, clothing and other items at The Mary Lee Bussey Clothes Closet, an outreach ministry of First African Baptist Church in Columbus.
For the children involved, this was a true learning experience.
"It is good for our children to see that we help all mankind not just ourselves or friends but we help everyone, and that is a teaching tool we do want them to learn about," said Cynthia Faxton with Mary Lee Bussey Clothes Closet.
The children also sorted personal hygiene items like toothpaste, tooth brushes, soap and deodorant, all to be distributed to the area's homeless in the coming days.
