Columbus school kids make bowls to fight hunger

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Folks gathered on Sunday afternoon at Saint Anne-Pacelli Cathloic School to help fight hunger.

Students at Saint Anne's hosted the Empty Bowl luncheon, aimed at combating hunger in our community by choosing an empty bowl decorated and created by the students.

The bowl came with a meal of soup, bread and dessert.

Every dollar donated is going to help those in need.

"Our students here at St Anne Pacelli volunteer in so many ways. They actually make the bowls and then the people come in and they choose a bowl. We wash that bowl for them and give them their clean empty bowl to remind them of hungry people in our community," said St. Anne art teacher Allison Wilbanks.

Money raised on Saturday will be donated to the Saint Anne Community Outreach Center.
