OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - The judge in an Opelika murder trial sent the jury home early after a defense witness disruption in court.
A witness for the defense changed her story while on the stand in the Montavious Askew murder trial on Thursday.
Neidra Bledsoe testified she was threatened into telling Montavious Askew's defense attorney she was with Kasheenea Grant the night Andrew Jones was killed.
The defense was trying to discredit Grant's testimony when she told the jury she was with the victim Andrew "Turk" Jones when he was shot and Turk told her the defendant, known as Dunk, had shot him.
The defense called Bledsoe to the stand after she met with Askew's defense attorney in July and told them Grant was with her the night of the shooting and could not have been at the scene.
When questioned on the stand, Bledsoe testified she was intimidated into making the false claim and even bribed, but did not want to lie on the stand.
Bledsoe tried to leave the stand and was arrested after an altercation the court bailiff.
