WTVM visits Mt. Olive Primary School to celebrate Read Across America Week

FORT MITCHELL, AL (WTVM) - Famous children's author Dr. Seuss was celebrated at several schools in our area over the past week.

WTVM's Elisabeth D'Amore and Jason Dennis enjoyed serving as guest readers at Mount Olive Primary School in Fort Mitchell on Friday afternoon.

This special event to close out "Read Across America" week also included a parade put on by students marching through the hallway together while dressed up like Dr. Seuss characters.

"We're culminating our Read Across America activities for 2015, and what we have going on is a character parade, and we have guest readers that are reading books to our students based upon the selected classroom theme that they've chosen," explained Principal Sheila Baker.

For their Read Across America events across the U.S., the National Education Association says "You're never too old, too wacky, too wild...to pick up a book and read with a child."
