'Empty Bowl' fills up with donations for good cause

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Folks gathered at the Columbus Recreation Center near Northside High School on Sunday to take part in the fight against hunger.

The Empty Bowl luncheon takes bowls decorated and created by local artists and served them with soup for decoration.

"It's very big it raises awareness in the community of the need the fact that one in five people is living below the poverty line and has to struggle with food insecurities," said Frank Shepard of Feeding the Valley.

The event benefits the Kids Café Program, which serves 1,000 meals a day.
