SALEM, AL (WTVM) - Last month, the Peppers family had their door kicked in and their Salem home turned upside down.
Rita Peppers returned home on Monday, Feb. 23 to find her house had been burglarized and thieves had stolen a safe containing the last memories of her son who died in a tragic car crash in 2008.
We're happy to share that the safe was found with her son's things still intact inside.
According to Peppers, someone found the safe lying in an empty house yard in Columbus.
The safe did suffer some water damage, but she says the priceless memories of her son were unharmed.
