Auburn man arrested on burglary, theft charges

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - On Tuesday, the Auburn Police Division arrested Aaron J. Hippely, 20, from Auburn on felony warrants charging him with second-degree burglary and second-degree theft of property.

The arrest is the result of an investigation of a burglary that occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Wright Street that was reported to police on March 2.

According to the victim, someone illegally entered his residence, while he was inside asleep and stole a wallet containing credit cards and an electronic device valued at $100.

Auburn Police initiated an investigation into the incident and as a result Hippely was developed as a suspect; he was captured on video surveillance using one of the stolen credit cards at a local ATM.

Detectives subsequently located Hippely at his residence and took him into custody and charged him with burglary second degree and theft of property second degree.

Hippely was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for an $8,000 bond.
