PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - More than 200 people were on hand in Phenix City on Thursday morning for the second annual Mayor's Unity in Prayer Breakfast.
They gathered at the Idle Hour Park Community Center and got a hot meal, plus words of encouragement from Dr. Ron King, the former head of the Pastoral Institute.
At one point, audience members were asked to break off into groups to pray together for the future of Phenix City.
"What we're trying to do is incorporate it where we know that the foundation of what this country was built on and what makes this the most wonderful country to live in," explained Mayor Eddie Lowe. "We need to maintain that and what better place to start than right here in Phenix City, Ala."
The Lee-Russell Ministerial Association organized the event.
