MCSD announces new Pre-K online application process for 2015-2016

MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County School District is implementing a new online Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) application and registration process for the 2015-2016 school year, which begins Tuesday, March 30 through Thursday, April 30.

Pre-K informational sessions are scheduled at three locations:

Northside High School (Auditorium)

Wednesday, March 18

2002 American Way

Columbus, GA 31909

6– 7 p.m.

G.W. Carver High School (Auditorium)

Thursday, March 19

3100 8th Street

Columbus, GA 31906

6– 7 p.m.

Spencer High School (Auditorium)

Monday, March 30

4340 Victory Drive

Columbus, GA 31903

6– 7 p.m.

Parents are encouraged to attend one of the informational sessions in March to learn more about the Pre-K application process and the program.

"We want to give everyone an opportunity," explained Dana Thompson, Director of Early Success Centers of MCSD. "All the children that we have space for, the opportunity to come be a part of a program that's really going to provide the necessary skills to move them into the kindergarten program."

In addition, parents and legal guardians are encouraged to apply for Pre-K during the month of April to ensure timely and sufficient student and teacher assignments across the district. 

Pre-K applicants are assigned a lottery number. Students are randomly selected through the lottery process. If selected, parents will receive a confirmation letter with registration instructions. Parents of students who are not selected will receive a waiting list notification letter.
