Man shot in chest Thursday upgraded to stable condition

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A man shot in the chest Thursday morning has been upgraded from critical to stable condition, according to Major JD Hawk with the Columbus Police Department. 

Police were dispatched to a shooting at 4:25 a.m. at the Lindsey Vista Apartments near Decatur Street and Flemming Avenue. The 26-year-old victim was taken to Midtown Medical Center shortly after.

Columbus Police are now searching for the suspect, who they say is a black male named Josh in his late 20's.

The victim was at the mother of his child's house when he was shot by the mother's friend after the two got into a struggle. When the two males were in the struggle, the victim was shot and the suspect fled the scene.

Detectives have assumed this investigation. Stay tuned for more details.
