Meet Smiths Station High School's Teacher of the Year

SMITHS STATION, AL (WTVM) - A Smiths Station High School teacher is being honored for her hard work and dedication in the classroom.

Kelli Ledbetter is this year's Teacher of the Year. She said it's an honor because there are so many other great teachers.

She told News Leader 9 teaching has always been her passion, and the Auburn graduate comes from a blue and orange family full of educators.

Jamie Sikes nominated Ms. Ledbetter for this award. She said Kelli exhibits everything a great teacher should bring to the classroom
.

"Her kids will tell you from sun up to sun down whatever they need aside from the curriculum part she gives them everything that she has," Sikes said.

Ledbetter is a social studies teacher who also coaches for the cheerleading and softball teams.

She said she's passionate about making lifelong learners and planting seeds into their lives. Ledbetter has been teaching for four years starting at Phenix City Intermediate School and now she calls Smiths Station High School home.

Congratulations to Kelli!
