FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) – Fort Benning plans to welcome home soldiers on Monday who helped respond to the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa.
Fort Benning officials say a welcome home celebration for soldiers in the 463rd Medical Detachment is set for 5 p.m. on Monday watFreedom Hall.
The soldiers were part of the Response Support Force for Operation United Assistance. Their mission was to help the Liberian government contain the spread of Ebola and launch treatment units throughout the country.
Officials say the soldiers were deployed for four months and have spent the past three weeks quarantined at a facility in West Virginia.
