COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM/WXTX) - The Georgia Department of Labor has just released its most recent unemployment numbers, and its good news for the state.
In Metro Columbus, the unemployment rate declined to 7.3 percent in February, down from 7.5 percent in January. It's also much lower compared to February 2014 numbers when the rate was 8.2 percent.
In the River Valley, which covers 16 Georgia counties including Harris, Muscogee and Stewart counties, the unemployment for February was also slightly down, dropping to an even 8 percent.
The unemployment rate in January was 8.1 percent.
