AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – John C. Lankford IV was appointed as Auburn Fire Chief on Wednesday March 25.
Chief Lankford served in the Auburn Fire Division for 21 years and has been Deputy Chief since 2014. Since the death of former Chief Lee Lamar, Lankford has been leading the Auburn Fire Division.
"Chief Lankford's 21 years of service, pursuit of educational opportunities, and excellent history of hard work and leadership have given him the experience needed to lead the Auburn Fire Division," Auburn City Manager Charles Duggan said.
Chief Lankford has an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science from Chattahoochee Valley Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and Economics from Auburn University. He is also a graduate of the Alabama state Fire College of and the National Fire Academy.
With an array of achievements, Public Safety Director Bill James says he is looking forward to having Lankford lead the Auburn Fire Division.
