(WTVM) - Governor Robert Bentley has just released the new unemployment numbers for Alabama and the rate is down across the state.
For the state as a whole, the rate for February dropped to 5.8 percent, down from January's rate of 6 percent and a big drop from February 2014 when the rate was 7.2 percent.
"January's rate marks 14 months with no increase in our unemployment rate," Governor Robert Bentley said. "For the past two months, more than two million people are working in this state, which hasn't happened since November 2008. We continue to remain hopeful that our economy is turning around and Alabamians are gaining employment."
In Russell County, the unemployment rate was five point seven percent in February; Lee County had the second lowest rate in the state at four point seven percent.
