Cataula man charged with setting apartment wall on fire

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Cataula man was arrested over the weekend on arson charges. 

Police report 19-year-old Jake Allen McTier was intoxicated and drinking in an apartment complex on Hamilton Street off Double Churches Road on Sunday, March 29.

At about 1:36 a.m., officials said McTier went outside and started a fire to the wall of the building, causing extensive damage to the building and the grass surrounding it. 

A witness stated he saw McTier outside with a cigarette lighter. 

Police arrested McTier at about 3:45 a.m. and charged him with arson in the first degree.
