COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Some local residents are taking a stand to ensure homelessness is eradicated by 2016.
Home for Good and Columbus Regional Health hosted a community-wide stakeholder meeting on the Zero in 2016 Initiative.
The Zero in 2016 Initiative aims to end veterans and chronic homelessness across the country by 2016.
Today's meeting welcomed national representatives from the Zero 2016 Initiative to discuss the specifics of their plan to end homelessness.
"We really will be talking about the participation in the initiative. What we hope to accomplish and then how will we start prioritizing housing for veterans and the chronic homeless," Christy Bevis said.
Among the special guests at today's event were Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and Regina King from the Corporation for Supportive Housing
