PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A group of firefighters in East Alabama responded to an unusual call on Sunday.
A young Fort Mitchell boy injured in an accident last month wanted to thank them for saving his life, so his mom posted to Facebook looking for the men.
That's when a crew from the Mount Olive Sunderland Volunteer Firefighters came out to his home with a fire engine to say hello.
"It was a no brainer," said Lt. Earl Gray, a Mt. Olive Sunderland Volunteer Firefighter. "We all have kids. We all know what it would feel like… and hey he deserves it."
The grandfather is home and doing fine.
The grandson is also doing well, but he is still going through the healing process. He still has some swelling and a few more surgeries to go through.
