APD investigating alleged sexual assault

The Auburn Police Division is currently investigating a sexual assault that reportedly occurred in the early morning hours of April 3, according to a news release issued Tuesday.

The incident, which allegedly took place on the 800 Block of W. Longleaf Drive, was not reported until a later time.

A preliminary investigation by APD has determined that two suspects unlawfully entered a residence, threatened and sexually assaulted one of the occupants.

Both suspects are described as black males, mid-teens to early 20s, approximately 6' tall with a slender build. They were last seen fleeing the scene on foot wearing dark colored t-shirts and gray athletic type pants.

Chief Paul Register says, "First we want to make sure residents are aware so they can report suspicious activity and second we want to know if they have any information on this case or if they know anything about it to give us a call."

Police are currently seeking information from anyone with knowledge of this case. Information should be reported by contacting Auburn Detectives at (334)-501-3140 or the Anonymous Tip Line at (334)-246-1391.

Citizens are reminded to report suspicious activity and persons to the police.
