Public Tutoring Initiative offers additional ACT test prep for students

(WTVM) - It's that time of year when high school students start thinking about colleges. 

If your student needs to take the ACT, one Columbus native is working to help them get high scores. Mauri Artz with the Public Tutoring Initiative tutors in Palm Beach and Cleveland, and Skypes with students across the world.

The Public Tutoring Initiative offers a full ACT course, covering basic substantive material in the subject areas, test taking strategies, as well as a strong dose of inspiration and confidence building. 

Artz charges as much as $150 an hour for ACT test prep services, but she's willing to help more students.

For each paid student, Artz says she will tutor a less fortunate student for free.

ACT scores are used as graduation requirements in lieu of state exit exams.

Artz says she wants each of her students to be happy with the ultimate score.

"My message is for students to invest in themselves," Artz said. 

In addition to the year's access to online lessons, there are weekly live streaming sessions where Artz and her colleagues will answer emailed questions for $79. 

"I have been a secret weapon for many private students over the past decade," Artz said. "Now I want to offer that help to any student who seeks to reach for a personal best on this test. As our motto states, 'We do good. You do well."
