Area's most wanted 'Shotgun bandit' is identified

Man wanted for several armed robberies identified

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM/WXTX) – Columbus' Most Wanted suspect, was taken into custody thanks to a citizen who helped identify the suspect.

During the month of December 2014 the Columbus Police Department Robbery/Assault Division began investigating five separate business armed robberies in which the suspect used a sawed off shotgun. The robberies were as followed:

  • Family Dollar located at 4328 Buena Vista Rd.
  • Subway located at 3590 Buena Vista Rd.
  • Waffle House located at 4301 Victory Dr.
  • Family Dollar located at 326 Farr Rd.
  • Family Dollar located at 2111 Buena Vista Rd.

In each of these robberies witnesses described the suspect as a light skinned male who was around 5'8", medium build, wearing a hood and was armed with what looked like a sawed off shotgun.

The citizen who helped identify the suspect led officials to Lafayette, LA where the suspect was taken into custody on unrelated charges.

Sgt. Drew Tyner traveled to Louisiana and interviewed the suspect and two of his known associates. Following the interviews, Sgt. Tyner was able to issue warrants for the arrest of three people in connection to the armed robberies in Columbus.

Warrants have been issued for 22-year-old Blake Landry with eight counts of armed robbery, 21-year-old Blane Landry with two counts of armed robbery and 31-year-old Albert Johnson with one count of armed robbery

They are all incarcerated in Louisiana and as soon as they are available for extradition they will be brought back to Columbus.
