COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A man believed to be a victim was really a suspect in a home invasion.
Jaquan Van Buren was in court Thursday, April 9.
Van Buren is charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, false reporting of a crime, and Theft by receiving.
Investigators say Van Buren attempted to commit a home invasion in Phenix City back in February, when he was accidentally shot by his partner.
While at the hospital, Van Buren told police he was shot at a party in Columbus but his story didn't check out because his vehicle was caught on surveillance.
U.S. Marshalls arrested Van Buren Tuesday and in his residence they found multiple loaded weapons, a Russian rifle which had been stolen in 1995 and more than 300 rounds of loose ammo.
Van Buren's bond was set at more than $50,000.
