COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – St. Francis Hospital has entered into exclusive discussions with a subsidiary of Community Health Systems, Inc. regarding a potential relationship between the organizations.
Community Health Systems is one of the largest publicly traded hospital companies in the United States. They are also the leading operator of general acute care hospitals in communities across the country.
"We see similarities between the values and services of Community Health Systems affiliates hospitals and those we hold here at St. Francis. The board is committed to a smooth process and they are optimistic that there will be a definitive agreement in the near future," Richard Bradley said, St. Francis Board of Trustees.
During the due diligence process, details about a final agreement will be further identified.
The benefits of the proposed transaction include:
- An infusion of capital investment in hospital facilities, technology, medical equipment and services
- Maintaining St. Francis Hospital's current medical staff and strong efforts to recruit new physicians to the community
- Hiring of substantially all active employees in good standing in the same positions with years of service recognized
- A local board of trustees comprised of members of St. Francis' medical staff and local community leaders
More information will be released as it becomes available.
