COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist speaks Columbus State University aiming to open up a dialogue on immigration.
Jose Antonio Vargas spoke April 9 at CSU's Cunningham Conference Center about his take on the immigration debate.
Vargas wrote a New York Times Magazine essay revealing himself as an undocumented immigrant in 2011, and he shared his thoughts on the issue Thursday night.
"We can't all just babysit your kids, mow your lawn and serve you drinks," Vargas said. "So what do you want to do undocumented residents of the state and you can't not be in the state and not think about the legacy of Martin Luther King and legacy of Civil Rights Movement."
The Inaugural Diversity Forum, a diversity conference, was also part of the event.
